St. John Fisher Men's Soccer Ties Unbeaten Elmira
The St. John Fisher College men’s soccer team had a late comeback at Elmira College today, resulting in a 1-1 tie after two overtime periods was not enough to find a winner. Fisher is now 3-6-1 on the season and 1-1-1 in the Empire 8 Conference. The Cardinals gave Elmira its first blemish of the season, as the Soaring Eagles were 9-0 coming into Saturday’s game.
Stefan John gave the Cardinals their only goal in the 87th minute in the upper left corner off a pass from Garhett Varin.
The Cardinals dominated the Soaring Eagles in most statistical categories on the afternoon. Fisher outshot Elmira 13-to-9 in the game and took five more corner kicks than its opponent. Despite dominating the stats, Fisher still found itself down late after Elmira scored early in the second half.
