Stevens Men's Cross Country Finishes Third at CTC Championships
JERSEY CITY, N.J. (October 15, 2011) – At Liberty State Park on October 15, the Stevens Institute of Technology men’s cross country team placed third overall out of 14 institutions on the 8K course in the multi-divisional race in the Collegiate Track Conference Championships. Rowan University claimed top honors as a team with 36 points.
The Ducks accumulated 120 total points, while New Jersey Institute of Technology was the meet’s runner-up with 65 points. NJIT also had the top overall runner, who clocked in a time of 26:38.04.
Stevens’ top runner came by way of sophomore Michael Cahill (Clark, N.J.). Cahill placed 13th individually out of 148 total runners with a time of 27:23.95.
Two other Ducks runners tallied top-20 finishes in freshman Thomas Cunningham (Colonia, N.J.) and senior Brad Antes (Pleasantville, N.Y.). Cunningham crossed the line in 19th place with a final time of 27:37.35, while Antes was directly behind Cunningham in 20th with a 27:38.49 8K performance.
Sophomore Andrew Turnage (Bayville, N.J.) and freshman Michael Maglio (Wayne, N.J.) rounded out the top-five runners for Stevens with respective finishes of 29th and 39th overall. Turnage turned in a time of 27:54.75, while Maglio crossed the line with a 28:34.64.
