HOBOKEN, N.J. (October 15, 2011) – The Stevens Institute of Technology women’s soccer team raced out to a 2-0 advantage in the first three and a half minutes of their homecoming game versus Alfred University on Saturday afternoon and never looked back as the Ducks won by a final of 4-0. The Ducks have now won five-straight games, including three in the Empire 8 Conference.

Junior Brittany Odgers (Roseland, N.J.), senior Kathleen Schuckers (Lincoln Park, N.J.), freshmen Georgia Johnson (Freehold, N.J.) and Megan Bagley (Glen Ridge, N.J.) all scored for Stevens in the victory.

Odgers also handed out an assist, while sophomore Bridgette Barden (Redondo Beach, Calif.) and freshman Ann Heine (Sammamish, Wash.) also picked up assists in the contest.

Just 2:30 into the game, Odgers picked up her third goal of the season on a pass from Barden to begin the scoring for the Ducks. Not even a minute later, Odgers found Schuckers on a two-on-one advantage for the second Stevens tally of the contest.

In the 25th minute, Johnson took a pass from Heine and distributed the ball past the Saxons goalkeeper to build Stevens’ first half lead to 3-0. Johnson now has two goals on the season, while Heine is second on the team with 14 points scored.

Bagley recorded her first marker of her career on a free kick from 24 yards out just 1:40 into the second half to end the scoring for the Ducks. With the goal, Bagley becomes the 10th Duck to tally a goal and 12th to record a point in the 2011 season.

Junior Teegan Kelly (Charlton, N.Y.) was only forced to make one save in all 90 minutes of action to earn her first victory and first shutout this season.

Stevens held a distinct edge in shots over Alfred, 27-2, including 10-1 on goal, and topped the Saxons in corners, 9-3.

The Ducks have put together a five-game winning streak and have outscored their opponents, 14-2, in those matches.
