Ithaca Men's Soccer Offense Explodes In Win At Alfred

Alfred, N.Y. - The Ithaca men's soccer team improved to 2-0-0 in Empire 8 play and 2-4-1 overall with a 6-1 victory at Alfred (4-4-1, 0-2-0 Empire 8) Saturday night at Merrill Field. Ithaca's six-goal outburst was the team's highest goal-scoring total in more than 10 years, since defeating Utica 9-0 in the 2000 season.

Ithaca freshman midfielder Tim Goldman (Manlius-Pebble Hill/Fayetteville) scored the first two goals of his collegiate career and sophomore midfielder Nick Murad (New Milford/New Milford, Conn.) also scored twice. Ithaca's two other goals came from freshman Chris Voehl (Walt Whitman/Bethesda, Md.) and freshman forward Brandon Glass (South Windsor/South Windsor, Conn.).

Ithaca built a 6-0 lead in the game.

Junior back Jack Shirley (Hand/Madison, Conn.) and freshman midfielder Adam Tamburello (Commack/Commack) added assists for the Bombers. Freshman goalkeeper Jordan Gentile (Manlius-Pebble Hill/Syracuse) made four saves in picking up his second wn of the year.
