ROCHESTER, NY – St. John Fisher College will host the Empire 8 volleyball conference’s second of two weekends of play tomorrow and Saturday. All eight teams will complete round robin play with the final four teams advancing to the Empire 8 Volleyball Championship semifinals on Saturday, Nov. 5 at the site of the highest seed with the final to be played on Sunday, Nov. 6.

Elmira College enters the weekend as the only undefeated team and faces three of the four conference teams with losing overall records in its final round robin matches. If the Soaring Eagles defeat Stevens Institute of Technology, they need only a win over Hartwick College or Utica College to seal the top seed for the championship.
Stevens and Nazareth College each won three of four matches in the opening round robin weekend. In addition to facing Elmira, the Ducks also play Alfred University and defending champion Ithaca College. The Golden Flyers, winners of seven consecutive matches, face Utica, Hartwick, and the host Cardinals.
Ithaca has won eight matches in a row and opens with a key match against St. John Fisher on Friday before playing Hartwick and Stevens on Saturday. The Bombers, Cardinals, and Hawks each posted a 2-2 record in the first weekend of Empire 8 play.
