ONEONTA, N.Y. (October 2, 2011) – The Stevens Institute of Technology women’s tennis team earned their fifth-straight 9-0 dual match win on Sunday afternoon, defeating Empire 8 rival Hartwick College in a clean sweep to run their season record to 7-0 and 4-0 in the conference. With the victory, the Ducks have guaranteed they will not lose a dual match decision in over a month.

At doubles, the matches were all over quickly. The closest match was at thirds, where Morgan Scalzi and Danielle Stewart won 8-2. Nicole Portner and Mine Bese won 8-1 at second doubles and Jessica Bourque and Lisa Tessitore ran through first doubles without dropping so much as a game.

The singles competition was much of the same, with each Stevens player from top to bottom recording a straight-set win. Bourque dropped just one game at first singles before Stewart formalized the Stevens victory with a 6-0, 6-0 sweep. Portner, Bese, Tessitore and Alexandra Handel also won their singles matchups to keep the Stevens 9-0 streak alive.
