Ithaca Women's Basketball Blasts William Smith 93-60
Geneva, N.Y. -- The Ithaca College women's basketball team (1-0) opened the season with an explosive start, routing host William Smith (0-1) 93-60. Sophomore guard Kathryn Campbell (Wall/Spring Lake, N.J.) scored a career-high 25 points. The win was the Bombers' fourth straight over the Herons and marked their biggest margin of victory ever over William Smith.
Campbell added eight rebounds, three assists and three steals while making 11 of her 16 shots from the floor.
Sophomore forward Jenn Escobido (Norwich Free Academy/Lisbon, Conn.) matched a career high with 17 points and contributed four assists, four rebounds and two steals. Senior guard Jessica Farley (Pine Valley Central/South Dayton) netted 11 points.
Farley and junior center Devin Shea (St. Basil Academy/Huntingdon Valley, Pa.) both pulled down six rebounds. Shea added eight points and a career-best seven assists.
Ithaca never trailed in the game and led by as many as 37 points in recording the program's highest point total ever in a season-opening game.
As a team, the Bombers shot 52 percent from the floor, hitting 37 of 71 shots. Their 37 baskets matched the program's 10th-highest total.
The Bombers make their first home appearance of the year Saturday, hosting SUNY Institute of Technology.
