HAMBURG, NY-Senior guard Christina Jordan (Cornwall-on-the-Hudson, NY/Cornwall) netted a career-high 27 points connecting on nine-of-14 from behind the arc, as the Alfred University women’s basketball team defeated host Hilbert College, 80-50, Saturday afternoon.

The Saxons (4-1, 0-0 Empire 8) Came out strong in the first half causing the Hawks’ to commit 13 first half turnovers and converted on 50 percent shooting from the three-point line, en route to building an eight point lead heading into intermission.

In the second half AU continued their tenacious defense forcing 11 more Hilbert miscues, and limiting the Hawks to a mere 17 points in the second half. For the game, the Saxons shot 32 percent from the floor (46 in the first half) and made 13 turnovers, while Hilbert (0-5) shot 29 percent from the floor and turned the ball over 24 times.

Sophomore forward Grace Williamson (Olean, NY/Olean) recorded her fourth double-double of the season on 11 points and a game-high 13 rebounds, and freshman guard Harley Cleary (Rochester, NY/Our Lady of Mercy) scored 16 points, and had six boards for the Saxons. Freshman guard Lindsay Drummond (Ogdensburg, NY/Ogdensburg) finished with seven points and seven rebounds, and senior guard Kacey Kwiecien (Perry, NY/Perry) dished out a game-high nine assists.

Tiana Cheasman had 13 points, five rebounds, and three assists, and Kateland Ball scored eight points, while adding four rebounds to lead the Hawks.
