ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Freshman Ira Griffin and junior Katie Wyant each broke school records Thursday as Nazareth's men's and women's track and field teams competed at the RIT Early Season Invitational at the Tigers' Gordon Field House.

No team scoring was kept, the but the Golden Flyers, under the direction of first-year coach James Goss, had several noteworthy performances, including Griffin's first-place finish in the 60-meter dash in a school-recording time of 7.03 seconds. He eclipsed the old mark of 7.50 that has stood since 2007. In the women's competition, Wyant won the 400-meter dash with a time of :61.94 seconds, slightly faster than Lauren Glaser's school record mark of :62.07 set in 2007.

Griffin also finished second in the 200-meter dash, narrowly missing another school record with a time of :23.18. He also ran on Nazareth's winning 4 x 400-meter relay (3:31.51) that also featured sophomore Jake Lafaver, junior Phil Schierer and senior Dan Polino.

Lafaver also placed sixth in the 400-meter dash (:52.58), while Schierer and Polino finished fifth and sixth respectively in the 500-meter dash with times of :69.71 and :69.86. Sophomore Matt Fedrizzi ran 10th in the mile (4:41.19).
