Ithaca Women's T&F Returns to Sixth-Place Ranking in National Standings

ITHACA, N.Y. -- The United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association ranks Ithaca’s women’s track & field team sixth in the nation in the week 3 poll announced Wednesday. The Bombers have nine individuals and one relay team with results ranking in the national top-20 and an additional two in the top-30. Ithaca was ranked sixth in the week 1 poll before an eighth-place spot in the week 2 standings.

Three-time indoor All-American, junior Emma Dewart (Barker/Barker) is atop the national standings in the pentathlon with a school-record point total of 3,565. She also holds the second-best 55-meter hurdles time, having recorded a finish of 8.33 at the Cornell Relays in December. Dewart ranks seventh in the long jump with a leap of 5.64 meters and eighth in the high jump having cleared 1.67 meters.

Senior Marcia McCord (Rancocas Valley/Mount Holly, N.J.) ranks in a trio of events sitting seventh in the 55 dash, eighth in the triple jump and 18th in the long jump. A four-time outdoor All-American, McCord has recorded a season-best time of 7.21 in the 55 dash. She also provisionally qualified for nationals with an 11.41-meter mark in the triple and a 5.35-meter mark in the long.

Additionally, senior Kate Leugers (Rice Memorial/Richmond, Vt.) ranks 16th in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 17:53.70 and sophomore Amanda Rissmeyer (Watchung/Millington, N.J.) sits 19th in the pentathlon with a point total of 2,896.

The Bombers’ distance medley relay team of sophomore Jenn Randall (Cincinnatus Central/Cincinnatus), freshman Mikayla Gaspary (Malta/Ballston Spa), sophomore Carly Graham (West Genesee/Syracuse) and Leugers ranks 18th in the national standings with a time of 12:50.67.
