HOBOKEN, N.J. (February 9, 2011) – On Wednesday morning, senior Laura Barito of the sixth-ranked Stevens Institute of Technology women’s swimming team was named the CollegeSwimming.com National Swimmer of the Week. This marks the second time in Barito’s illustrious career at Stevens she has earned the accolade (October 26, 2009).

The Arkadelphia, Ark. native led the Ducks to a dual-meet win at Hartwick College Saturday afternoon. The victory ended Stevens’ dual-meet season and pushed the team’s record to 4-1 overall.

Barito took first in the 50- and 100-yard freestyle with times of 23.67 and 52.25, respectively. She was also part of the Ducks’ winning 200-yard medley (1:49.67) and 400-yard freestyle (3:37.96) relays. The individual victories both set Hartwick pool-records and were NCAA B-cuts and the two relay times were good for pool-records as well. Barito, an All-American and CoSIDA Academic All-American, currently holds Stevens individual program-bests in the 50- and 100-free and is a member of all four school-record relay teams.
