Stevens Women's Swimming Jumps Three Spots to No. 6 in Latest TYR/CSCAA Swim Poll

SOMERS, Wisc. (February 9, 2011) – The Stevens Institute of Technology women’s swimming team jumped three spots to No. 6 in the latest TYR/Collegiate Swimming Coaches Association of America Poll, it was announced Tuesday night. The Ducks finished their dual-meet season with a convincing win over Hartwick College on Saturday afternoon to push their overall record to 4-1.

Sixth is the highest the program has been ranked in its history after climbing as high as eighth earlier this season. Stevens was No. 9 in the previous poll released January 26.

Stevens’ four wins came against Montclair State University, Misericordia University, SUNY New Paltz, and Hartwick College. The Ducks’ only loss came to No. 17 The College of New Jersey.

Stevens also won the New York University Fall Invitational and came in second place at the Golden Bear Invitational and the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships. Three times Duck swimmers have been named the Empire Swimmer of the Week and freshman Louise Moores was named the National Swimmer of the Week on October 27, 2010.

Emory College, Kenyon College, and Denison College hold the top-three spots in the poll and are followed by Williams College, Johns Hopkins University, and Stevens. The Ducks are the top-ranked team in the state of New Jersey and the only team from the Empire 8 in the rankings.
