HOBOKEN, N.J. (February 18, 2011) – The basketball doubleheader between Stevens Institute of Technology and Ithaca College on Saturday afternoon will be featured on D3Hoops.com. Both the men’s and women’s games will have key postseason implications as all four teams prepare for the upcoming Empire 8 Championship scheduled to get underway Friday, February 25, 2011.
The women’s game (2 p.m.) will feature Ithaca who is currently 14-0 in the Empire 8 and the Ducks who are 10-4. With a win Friday night against Elmira College, Stevens will be playing for the second seed in the Empire 8 tourney and the chance to host a semifinal Friday. On January 21 in Ithaca, the Bombers came out victorious in a 55-52 thriller.
If the Stevens men are able to defeat Elmira on Friday, the game against Ithaca will be for the regular-season Empire 8 title and No. 1 seed in the conference tournament. Each team currently has an overall record of 18-5 and 11-3 in the conference, but the Bombers won the first meeting, 73-68. Tip-off is slated for 4 p.m.
Tickets for the game are $4 for adults and children under 12 are free. For those unable to make it to the Canavan Arena on the Stevens campus, all the action will be webcast live at http://stevens.nmtvsports.com.

Saturday's broadcast team will be Gordon Mann and Dr. Jody King. Mann is the Deputy Managing Editor for D3hoops.com and has been working with the site since 2000. He provides written and broadcast coverage of men's and women's basketball in the East, Mid Atlantic and Atlantic regions. Dr. King is the former men's basketball coach for SUNY Maritime. He earned his bachelor's degree from New York University, his master's degree from Yeshiva University and his doctoral degree in Developmental Psychology from Yeshiva. King served as an Assistant Coach at Southern Vermont College and worked with Farmingdale State's men's program.
