Ithaca Women's T&F Maintains Sixth-Place Standing in National Rankings

ITHACA, N.Y. – The Ithaca women’s track & field team maintained its sixth-place national ranking by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association in the week 4 poll announced Wednesday. The Bombers have nine individual results ranking in the national top-20 and an additional five in the top-30. Ithaca has been ranked sixth in three of the four polls thus far this season.

Three-time indoor All-American, junior Emma Dewart (Barker/Barker) is atop the national standings in the pentathlon with a school-record point total of 3,565. She also holds the third-best 55-meter hurdles time, having recorded a finish of 8.33 at the Cornell Relays in December. Dewart ranks sixth in the long jump with a leap of 5.64 meters and ninth in the high jump having cleared 1.67 meters.

Senior Marcia McCord (Rancocas Valley/Mount Holly, N.J.) ranks in a trio of events sitting eighth in the triple jump, ninth in the 55 dash and 20th in the 400 dash. A four-time outdoor All-American, McCord has recorded season-best times of 7.21 in the 55 dash and 58.45 in the 400 dash. She also provisionally qualified for nationals with an 11.41-meter mark in the triple.

Senior Kristen DeStefano (Boiceville/Onteora) ranks 17th in the pole vault at a height of 3.45 meters, while senior Kate Leugers (Rice Memorial/Richmond, Vt.) ranks 19th in the mile run with a time of 5:05.22.

Ithaca will next compete on Saturday, Feb. 19 at the Denault Invitational hosted by Cornell.
