Way's Record-Breaking Performance Earns NYSCTC Weekly Praise
ITHACA, N.Y. –- Graduate Student William Way (Cheltenham/Glenside, Pa.) broke Ithaca’s 3,000-meter run record to lead the Bombers at Cornell’s Marc Deneault Memorial Invitational on Saturday. His performance claimed him NYSCTC Track Athlete of the Week accolades.
Way clocked an 8:28.01 3K finish in rewriting a 1983 record set by Pat O’Connor. He bettered the time by more than five seconds to place second in the event. Way also improved his ECAC-qualifying time with the finish.
He was also named Empire 8 Athlete of the Week for his performance.
Ithaca will next compete on Feb. 25-26 at the NYSCTC Championships hosted by St. Lawrence.
