Ithaca Men's Basketball Team Atop National Statistical Rankings

ITHACA, N.Y. – Ranked 28th nationally by D3Hoops.com, the Ithaca men’s basketball team (15-4, 8-2 Empire 8) also ranks among the top-20 nationally in many statistical categories. The Bombers are ranked in six team categories and have players represented in five individual categories in the most recent NCAA Division III men’s basketball national summary.

Sophomore guard Sean Rossi (Sparta/Sparta, N.J.) leads the nation in assists with an average of 10.2 per game, while sitting third overall in assist-to-turnover ratio at 3.78. Center Phil Barera (Belmont/Belmont, Mass.) also cracked the top-five with a third-place ranking in field-goal percentage. The senior captain has shot an average of 68.5 percent from the floor over the course of 19 games played this season.

Junior guard Jordan Marcus (Solomon Schechter/West Orange, N.J.) ranks seventh with an average of 3.6 three-point field goals made per game, while sophomore forward Andrei Oztemel (Staples/Westport, Conn.) is eighth in the same category, with 3.5 per contest.

The Bombers rank first out of 403 teams with an assist-to-turnover ratio of 1.65 and fifth in turnovers per game having committed an average of 10.3. Ithaca also ranks fifth in both three-point field goals per game and scoring offense. The Bombers have tallied 10.7 treys per contest and contributed 89.3 points per game.

Ithaca’s 49.9 percent field-goal shooting is the 12th best across the country.
