Hu Nabs National Swimmer of the Week Honor from CollegeSwimming.com

HOBOKEN, N.J. (February 3, 2011) – Sophomore John Hu of the Stevens Institute of Technology men’s swimming team was named the CollegeSwimming.com National Swimmer of the Week on Wednesday night. Hu swam in and won four events in a pair of dual-meets for the Ducks as they defeated SUNY New Paltz but fell to No. 11 The College of New Jersey.

In the 135-64 win over New Paltz, Hu won the 200-yard individual medley, clocking a time of 1:58.88 in his only event of the afternoon. The next day at TCNJ, Hu won three more events. He took the top spot in the 200-yard butterfly with a 1:52.50, the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:11.10, and the 200-IM, notching a 1:57.54.

Hu has been named the Empire 8 Swimmer of the Week three times this season and the National Swimmer of the Week twice (October 27). Earlier in the year (October 20), senior teammate Evan Wilson earned the same accolade.

Stevens is currently 3-1 overall and won its second Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference title in early December.
