NYSCTC Honors McCord and Dewart with Weekly Women’s T&F Awards
ITHACA, N.Y. – Senior Marcia McCord (Rancocas Valley/Mount Holly, N.J.) and junior Emma Dewart (Barker/Barker) were named athletes of the week by the New York State Collegiate Track Conference for meets through Jan. 30. McCord was named track athlete of the week, while Dewart received field athlete of the week accolades.
Winning the award for the third time this season, McCord claimed Empire 8 conference titles in the 55-meter dash, 200 dash and the triple jump on Sunday. Her time of 7.31 in the hurdles was a meet record, while her 11.41-meter mark in the triple was an NCAA provisional qualifier, as well as a meet record. She was named the Empire 8 Track Athlete of the Meet as she helped Ithaca to its fourth straight conference crown.
Dewart was named the Empire 8 Field Athlete of the Meet on Sunday after provisionally qualifying for the NCAA indoor meet in a trio of events, all of which she won. She took the long jump in a meet record 5.51 meters, the high jump in 1.67 meters and the hurdles in 8.55.
