Lichter, Connors Lead Ithaca Swimming & Diving To Win At Union
Schenectady, N.Y. - The Ithaca men's swimming & diving team (15-1) wrapped up its dual-meet season with a 180-120 win at Union on Saturday afternoon. Junior Antoine Connors (Spartanburg/Spartanburg, S.C.) and sophomore Jake Lichter (Weston/Weston, Mass.) were each part of three event victories for the Bombers.
Connors placed first individually in the 200-yard freestyle in 1:47.28 and the 50-yard freestyle in 22.17 seconds. He also swam the first leg on the winning 400-yard freestyle relay that won in 3:14.28 and also included sophomore Jeff Robbins (Fairport/Fairport), sophomore Chris Cadwell (C.W. Baker/Baldwinsville) and freshman John Carr (Brewster/Brewster).
Lichter won both breaststroke events. He won the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:01.12 and the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:16.82. Lichter was a part of Ithaca's victorious 200-yard medley relay team that started the meet with a time of 1:36.74 and also included freshman Connor White (Fox Lane/Pound Ridge), freshman Taylor Van Cott (Bethlehem/Delmar) and freshman Zack Kundel (Bethlehem/Glenmont).
White won the 100-yard backstroke in 54.08 seconds, Van Cott won the 200-yard butterfly in 1:57.46 and Robbins won the 100-yard freestyle in 48.17 seconds.
Other individual event winners included junior Derek Rand (Amity/Orange, Conn.) with a score of 304.80 in 3-meter diving and junior Jeff Rapp (Liverpool/Liverpool) in the 200-yard individual medley in 2:00.19.
