Ithaca Women's T&F Ranked 13th Nationally Entering NCAA Competition
ITHACA, N.Y. – The Ithaca women’s track & field team remained atop the national rankings, sitting 13th in the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association’s week 7 poll, the final poll of the indoor season. The Bombers have three individuals slated to compete at the NCAA Indoor Championships on Friday and Saturday at Capital.
Three-time indoor All-American, junior Emma Dewart (Barker/Barker) is atop the national standings in the pentathlon with a school-record point total of 3,565. Dewart also ranks eighth in the long jump with a leap of 5.64 meters, holds the 12th-best 55-meter hurdles time having recorded a finish of 8.33, and is 12th in the high jump standings having cleared 1.67 meters.
Senior Marcia McCord (Rancocas Valley/Mount Holly, N.J.) ranks in a pair of events sitting 14th in the triple jump and 16th in the 400 dash. A four-time outdoor All-American, McCord has recorded a season-best time of 57.90 in the 400, while tallying an 11.41-meter mark in the triple.
Senior Kate Leugers (Rice Memorial/Richmond, Vt.) ranks eighth in the country with a school-record mile time of 4:56.43.
Dewart will compete in the pentathlon, high jump and hurdles at the national meet, while McCord is on the docket in the 400 and triple with Leugers slated to compete in the mile.
