Nazareth Men's Tennis Wins Twice at Hilton Head

HILTON HEAD, S.C. -- Sophomores Jeremy Mancus and Ryan McCormick each won two singles matches as the Golden Flyers have won their first two matches during their Spring Break trip to Hilton Head.

Nazareth defeated Concordia, Wisconsin Sunday 6-3 and then edged Texas Lutheran Monday 5-4.

Nazareth won five of six singles matches to dominate the match against Concordia. Mancus and McCormick were straight set winners at third and first singles respectively. Freshman Erik Manske also won in straight sets at fifth singles as did junior Tom Wood at sixth singles. In the closest singles match, sophomore Bret Beaver won in a tiebreaker to secure another point. After dropping the first set 2-6, Beaver rallied to win 7-6(4) in the second set, then won the tiebreaker 10-5.

In double, Mancus and senior Adam Landry combined for a point at #2 with an 8-4 triumph.

Against Texas Lutheran, Mancus, McCormick and Landry earned straight-set singles points. Landry and Mancus won 8-6 at second doubles and Beaver and McCormick combined for an 8-0 win at first doubles.
