Rosensteel Helps Stevens Men's Tennis To Win Over Drew

MADISON, N.J. (March 30, 2011) – Sophomore standout Chris Rosensteel picked up wins at first singles and first doubles, as the Stevens Institute of Technology men’s tennis team broke back into the win column with a decisive 8-1 triumph over Drew University at the Drew Tennis Center in Madison, N.J. With the win, the Ducks improved to 3-4 on the year, while the Rangers fell to 4-5 on the season.

Hoping to get the Ducks off to a good start, Rosensteel and senior Arik Zeevy upended Elliot and Raul Smego (Ponce, Puerto Rico) 8-6 at first doubles. Drew’s Alex Belfiore (Virginia Water, England) and junior Matt Brisotti (Mattituck, N.Y.) picked up the Rangers’ lone win at second doubles (8-6), while Stevens’ Lopburi Sasinin and Jay Lee earned an 8-5 victory over Adam Gerber (Montclair, N.J.) and Matt Imbo (Islip, N.Y.) in the third slot.

Rosensteel headlined Stevens’ singles lineup with a 6-4, 6-3 win over Raul Smego, while Zeevy defeated Belfiore 7-5, 6-1 at second singles. Ducks’ sophomore Shota Tasaki scored a come-from-behind 4-6, 6-4, 10-7 win over Brisotti at third singles, while senior Jason Ringstad (Fairbanks, Alaska) secured a 6-3, 6-2 triumph over Gerber. Lee and Sasinin rounded out Stevens’ singles corps with wins at fifth and sixth singles, respectively.
