St. John Fisher Women's Basketball Uses Late Run To Advance in ECACs
The St. John Fisher College women's basketball team broke a 59-59 tie with an 11-0 run over the game's final 4:25 and rallied to defeat host SUNY Old Westbury 70-59 in the semifinals of the ECAC Metro Division III Championship on Saturday.
With the win, No. 4 Fisher advances to Sunday's title game and will play at No. 3 Lehman College at 2 p.m.
The Cardinals took the lead for good on a pair of free throws from freshman Camaryn Buckner, and pushed their lead to eight points on their next two possessions after back-to-back 3-pointers from senior Stephanie Sweeney.
Sweeney finished with 11 points, eight of which came in the final four minutes. She also led her team with seven assists and two blocks.
Fellow senior Colleen Maloney led all scorers with 25 points.
Buckner totaled 13 points, while Meghan Soja came through with a double-double, delivering 13 points and 12 boards.
