Elmira Women's Lacrosse Defeats SUNY Morrisville
Morrisville, NY -- The EC Women’s Lacrosse team traveled to SUNY Morrisville Saturday afternoon for a non-conference contest. Elmira College controlled the game throughout scoring the first seven goals of the contest en route to the 19-to-3 victory. The win moves the Soaring Eagles’ record to 2-0 in the young 2011 season.
Third year standout Jordan Donegan ’12 (Syracuse, NY -- Corcoran) kicked off the EC scoring in the contest tallying the first of her five first half scores just 2:32 into the game. Elmira College would continue to put on the offensive pressure in the half registering 12 goals before the break.
EC continued their strong play in the second half outscoring SUNY Morrisville, 7-to-1, in the session. Donegan’s five scores led the Purple and Gold on the offensive end. Class of 2012 teammate Lindsay Mitchell ’12 (Arnold, MD -- Arnold) led EC in total points in the contest with six on three goals and three assists. Midfielder Sarah Ware ’11 (Georgetown, MA -- Marquette) set up the EC scoring with 5 assists, and also registered 7 draw controls.
The Elmira College defense was anchored by the stellar play of net minders Mary Kate Gellerman ’13 (Frederick, MD -- Urbana), Julia Manemeit ’14 (Middletown, NY -- The Winchendon School), and LeAnna Presler ’14 (Livonia, NY -- Livonia). The trio allowed only three scores in sixty minutes of action.
