Fisher's D'Amato: Just Say No
The St. John Fisher College baseball team won both games of its doubleheader over Utica College on Saturday. Freshman Justin D'Amato pitched a no-hitter in an 11-0 win in the opener. The last no-hitter by a Fisher pitcher came four years ago to the day. The Cardinals won the second game, 7-1.
Game One: Fisher 11, Utica 0
Freshman Justin D'Amato pitched his first career no-hitter in a complete game shutout with one walk and five strikeouts. It was the first no-hitter by a Fisher pitcher since April 9, 2007, when Ryan Hanson threw a no-hitter in a 3-0 win over Keuka College.
D'Amato, who tossed a two-hitter with 12 strikeouts in his last game, improves to 6-1 on the year with the win.
Fisher recorded 13 hits, with senior Leo Fusilli contributing three RBI with a bases-loaded double in the sixth inning. Senior Ross Langevin went 1-for-2 from the plate, adding two RBI, while junior Ben Ward and freshman Brad Rush each went 3-for-4.
