Pitchers Dominate As Ithaca Softball Sweeps Alfred
Hornell, N.Y. – The 23rd-ranked Ithaca softball team (13-5, 3-1 Empire 8) won two more Empire 8 games Saturday in sweeping Alfred (6-4, 0-2 Empire 8) by scores of 6-0 and 4-1. The Bombers play Sunday at RIT.

Senior Allison Greaney (John F. Kennedy/Iselin, N.J.) won the game with her third shutout of the year and is now 5-1 in the circle. Greaney allowed just four hits over seven innings with three strikeouts.
The Bombers took the lead with a run in the top of the third and then added three more in the fifth. Sophomore Jennifer Biondi (Morris Hills/Rockaway, N.J.) was 3-for-4 with three runs scored and two runs batted in. Senior designated player Kerry Barger (Carmel/Carmel) also had three hits for Ithaca.

Biondi had an RBI double to tie the score in the top of the third inning and then scored the go-ahead run. Ithaca added two more runs in the sixth on RBI singles from freshman Julianne Vincent (Westhill/Stamford, Conn.) and Biondi. Biondi was 3-for-4 in the game and Greaney and Vincent had two hits each. Senior pitcher Britt Lillie (Honeoye Falls-Lima/Mendon) earned the complete-game victory and allowed just four hits with two strikeouts.
