St. John Fisher Softball Sweeps Soaring Eagles
The St. John Fisher College softball team swept Elmira College on Sunday. Fisher won the opener 2-1 and picked up a 4-0 victory in game two. With the wins, Fisher moves to 18-6 on the year and 4-2 in the Empire 8 Conference.
Game One: Fisher 2, Elmira 1
The Soaring Eagles took a 1-0 lead in the top of the fourth, but Fisher answered with two in the bottom half of the inning. Krista Robarge hit one of her three singles on the day, scoring Jamie Harmon and Carissa Carlson. Danielle Leone scattered five hits and fanned three to earn her eighth win of the season.
Game Two: Fisher 4, Elmira 0
Pitcher Sarah Stefanon tossed a three-hitter with six strikeouts, raising her record to 6-1 on the year. Fisher led 1-0 after the first inning, but added one three insurance in the sixth to seal the win.
Megan Rogers went 3-for-3 with a run scored, while Jennifer Vanek finished 2-for-3 with a run and an RBI. Jamie Harmon and Megan Zoerb each delivered RBI singles, while Carissa Carlson hit a solo home run, her third of the season.
