Ithaca Golf Finishes Sixth In Strong Field at Vassar

Poughkeepsie, N.Y. - The Ithaca golf team posted an 11-shot improvement over the first round and totaled 370 in the second and final round of the Vassar Invitational at Dutchess Golf & Country Club Sunday afternoon. The par-72 course played to 5,805 yards. Ithaca's total of 751 over the two rounds placed sixth in a strong field of 12 teams, and the Bombers finished ahead of local rivals Cortland, St. Lawrence, William Smith and Nazareth.

Ithaca was paced by freshman Amanda Failla (Farmington/Unionville, Conn.), who shot 92 in Sunday's second round and placed 24th overall in the individual standings with a two-day total of 183. Sophomore Brooke Llobell (East Islip/Great River) was one shot behind Failla in the overall standings, placing tied for 27th with a two-day total of 184. Llobell's round of 89 on Sunday was the best among Ithaca players. Sophomore Jackie Young (Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake/Burnt Hills) shot 91 to place second among Ithaca scorers Sunday, a 12-shot improvement over her first-round score.
