Ithaca Women’s Track & Field Soars into National Rankings, Sits 15th
ITHACA, N.Y. – The Ithaca women’s track & field team propelled into the national top-25 poll, sitting 15th in the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association’s week 2 poll. The Bombers have seven individual results ranking in the national top-20 and an additional three in the top-30. Ithaca last ranked 13th in the standings entering the NCAA Indoor Championships.
Four-time indoor All-American, junior Emma Dewart (Barker/Barker) ranks third in the high jump with a 1.68 meter (5’ 6’’) clear, sixth in the 100-meter hurdles clocking a time of 14.66 at Moravian’s Coach P Invitational and 12th in both the long and triple jumps. She has notched leaps of 5.55 meters (18’ 2.5’’) in the long jump and 11.35 meters (37’ 3’’) in the triple.
Senior Marcia McCord (Rancocas Valley/Mount Holly, N.J.) ranks in a pair of events sitting seventh in the 400 dash and 11th in the 200 dash. A four-time outdoor All-American, McCord has recorded season-best times of 57.04 in the 400 and 25.07 in the 200.
Senior Kate Leugers (Rice Memorial/Richmond, Vt.) sits seventh in the 10,000 run having crossed the finish line of the race in 37:14.19 at the Hamilton Continental Invitational.
The Bombers will next compete at the Bucknell Outdoor Classic on Friday and Saturday, April 15-16.
