Jones Breaks Utica Single-Game RBI Record

Utica, NY (4/13/11). Freshman outfielder Kristie Jones (Brewerton, N.Y./Paul V Moore) of the Utica College softball team broke the school’s record for RBIs in a single game on Tuesday after she recorded eight RBIs, eclipsing the old mark (7 RBIs) set by Alison Montante in 2003.

Jones went 6-for-7 with ten RBIs and two home runs to help UC defeat local rival SUNY IT 15-4 and 15-3 at Greenman Field. She recorded two runs, three hits and eight RBIs in the first game and one run, two RBIs and three hits in the second game to help UC advance its record to 13-11.

Jones has recorded five home runs, eight hits and 12 RBIs in her last four games, and currently leads the team with five home runs and 27 RBIs. She ranks second in slugging (.588), third with an on-base percent of .430 and fourth with a batting average of .388. She also maintains a .833 fielding percentage and ranks fourth with 14 runs and 23 hits.

She also posted a six game stretch, earlier this season, where she recorded five hits, two home runs and nine RBIs.
