ROCHESTER, NY – Senior Kyle Devins of conference champion Ithaca College was chosen as Field Athlete of the Meet and senior Matt Marion of Rochester Institute of Technology received Track Athlete of the Meet honors at the 2011 Empire 8 Men’s Outdoor Track and Field Championship held at RIT.
Devins won the long jump and triple jump, breaking his own Empire 8 championship mark in each, and provisionally qualified for the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships in the long jump. His long jump of 7.11 meters topped his previous conference record of 7.01, while his triple jump of 13.60 meters bettered his mark of 13.28 set in 2008.
Marion won the 400-meter dash in 51.35 seconds and the 400-meter hurdles in 55.53 seconds. He also finished third in the 110-meter hurdles and fourth in the long jump.
