Empire 8 Announces Men's Golf All-Conference Team

Tyler McArdell of St. John Fisher Earns Player of the Year Honor

ROCHESTER, NY – Junior Tyler McArdell of conference champion St. John Fisher College earned the Medalist/Player of the Year honor at the 2010-11 Empire 8 Golf Championship. McArdell posted the best third- (76) and fourth-round (75) scores to shoot a four-round total of 306, five strokes ahead of the runners-up.

 

The final two rounds were played at the Woodstone Country Club after the opening two rounds were conducted at Yahnundasis Golf Club in September. 

 

The top five finishers who played all four rounds were named to the all-conference first team with the next five finishers earning second-team honors. 

Junior Chris Clapper of the Cardinals finished in a tie for second place after back-to-back 78’s in the final two rounds and a four-round total of 311. Joining him at 311 was sophomore Jamie Bresnahan of the University of Scranton, who followed a third-round 82 with a 76, the second-best score for the final round.

Stephen Welkie of Susquehanna University finished fourth with a 313 total to earn first-team all-conference honors and the Empire 8 Rookie of the Year award as the top-scoring freshman.

Senior Lucas Smith of runner-up Moravian College rounded out the all-conference first team with his fifth-place finish with a 314 total, which included a second-round 73.

Bob Simms was named Coach of the Year for leading St. John Fisher to the title.
