Fisher led 3-1 after three innings, but Stevens tied the game with a run in the fifth and sixth innings. The Cardinals scored two runs in the top of the ninth to take the lead for good. Fusilli walked to start the inning and advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt by Bostick. Ross Langevin doubled down the line in left to score Fusilli and Langevin scored on a single by Chris Roeder.
In the bottom of the ninth, Stevens sent the tying run to the plate, but reliever Tim Sylvester induced a double-play ball to end the rally.
