ITHACA, N.Y. -- The softball team (29-13) hammered Western Connecticut (29-13) 9-0 in five innings to eliminate the Cardinals from at the NCAA regional being held at Ithaca's Kostrinsky Field. The Bombers, seeded second in the regional, face fifth-seeded St. John Fisher in another elimination game scheduled to be the last of Saturday's four games.

Senior Alison Greaney (John F. Kennedy/Iselin, N.J.) went three-for-three with four runs batted in and earned the win with four shutout innings to lead the Bombers. She allowed just two hits and improved to 11-3.

Greaney hit an RBI double in the second, doubled in a pair of runs in the third and finished her day at the plate with a run-scoring single in the fourth inning.

Sophomore center fielder Jennifer Biondi (Morris Knolls/Rockaway, N.J.) and sophomore third baseman Molly O’Donnell (Niskayuna/Niskayuna) both finished with two hits. O’Donnell drove in two runs and freshman right fielder Jackie Branco (West Essex/Roseland, N.J.) scored a pair of runs.

Senior left fielde Britt Lillie (Honeoye Falls-Lima/Mendon) scored Ithaca’s first run, coming all the way home from first on an infield single by sophomore first baseman Carrianne D’Alessandro (Bridgewater-Raritan/Bound Brook, N.J.). D’Alessandro’s sharp single bounced into foul territory off Western Connecticut’s third baseman and when Lillie slid into third the throw got past the base, allowing her to score.
