Laura Barito to be Featured in Sports Illustrated

NEW YORK, N.Y. (June 21, 2011) – Two-time NCAA Champion Laura Barito of Stevens Institute of Technology will be featured in this week’s edition of Sports Illustrated, which hits newsstands on Thursday, June 23. The recent Bachelor of Engineering graduate will be featured in the magazine’s “Faces in the Crowd” feature on page 22.

Senior Laura Barito became the first-ever Stevens NCAA National Champion in late March when she won the 50-yard freestyle at the Swimming and Diving Championships in Knoxville, Tenn. Barito became a two-time national champ after winning the 400-meter hurdles at the Outdoor Track and Field Championships two months later in late May in Delaware, Ohio. She graduates as a 19-time All-American and a two-time Academic All-American.

Sports Illustrated is read by 23 million adults each week …Fellow 2011 Stevens graduate and men’s soccer All-American Zach Carr was also honored by SI’s "Faces in the Crowd" earlier this year in the December 20, 2010 issue.
