ITHACA, N.Y. – The Ithaca men’s track & field team has received postseason recognition from the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association and the Empire 8. Ithaca was one of 64 institutions nationwide to earn USTFCCCA All-Academic honors. Senior Kyle Devins (Ausable Valley/Peru) and freshman Brennan Edmonds(Ithaca/Ithaca) tallied individual USTFCCCA All-Academic accolades and head coach Jim Nichols received year-end coach of the year nods from the Empire 8.

Having met the GPA requirement of 3.10, the Bombers were one of three Empire 8 squads to be recognized as a team.

Devins and Edmonds were two of five Empire 8 athletes represented on the individual all-academic list.

To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track & Field Team, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 and have met an NCAA automatic or provisional qualifying mark in an individual or relay event at some point in either indoor or outdoor seasons. Participation in an NCAA Championship also fulfills the athletic component of All-Academic qualification.

Leading the Bombers to a pair of Empire 8 championships, two runner-up NYSCTC finishes and two top-five ECAC finishes during the 2010-11 seasons, Nichols earned conference coach of the year accolades for both the indoor and outdoor seasons.
