Ithaca Women's Track & Field Team Earns USTFCCCA All-Academic Status

ITHACA, N.Y. – The Ithaca women’s track & field team was one of 111 institutions nationwide that earned all-academic recognition from the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association. Ithaca ranked 21st overall, and was the top of three Empire 8 teams recognized, with a team grade point average of 3.45.

Ithaca recently ranked third in the nation with 11 individuals named to the USTFCCCA All-Academic Team. Junior Emma Dewart (Barker/Barker), the USTFCCCA Indoor T&F Field Scholar-Athlete of the Year, was joined by junior Heidi Baumbach (Lake Placid/Lake Placid), freshman MartyAnn Chromik (NaugatuckNaugatuck, Conn.), senior Kristen DeStefano (Boiceville/Onteora), junior Ashley Dlubac (Merrimack Valley/Loudon, N.H.), sophomore Carly Graham (West Genesee/Syracuse), senior Kate Leugers (Rice Memorial/Richmond, Vt.), senior Marcia McCord (Rancocas Valley/Mount Holly, N.J.), graduate student Melanie McCormick (Champlain Valley Union/Williston, Vt.), senior Emily Moran (Walkill/Walkill) and sophomore Jenn Randall (Cincinnatus Central/Cincinnatus)on the squad.

The Bombers recorded a school-record sixth-place finish at the NCAA Outdoor Championships tallying eight all-America finishes. Ithaca swept the Empire 8 and NYSCTC outdoor titles and won the ECAC Outdoor Championship.

Teams must have at least a 3.10-cumulative GPA to be considered for the team award, while student-athletes must have compiled a cumulative GPA of 3.30 and have met an NCAA automatic or provisional qualifying marks in an individual or relay event to meet the award requirements.
