ITHACA, NY -- Elmira head volleyball and softball coach Rhonda Faunce will be one of eight new members inducted into the Ithaca College Athletic Hall of Fame. The annual induction ceremony will be held Oct. 14, in the college’s Emerson Suites.

Faunce ’85 was the school’s first volleyball player to earn All-America honors, receiving honorable mention as a junior and senior. She finished her career with Bomber-record totals of 1,536 kills and 252 aces, while setting single-season records in both categories during a career that featured Ithaca’s first three NCAA playoff appearances.

Faunce enters her 24th season as the Head Women’s Volleyball and Softball Coach at Elmira College. During her tenure with the Soaring Eagles, Faunce coached the volleyball team to three NCAA tournament appearances, an ECAC Championship, an Empire 8 Championship and 11 New York State Women’s Collegiate Association (NYSWCAA) tournament invitations. In 2000, Faunce earned the Empire 8 Coach of the Year award, as well as American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Northeast Region Co-Coach of the Year honors. That same season she was presented the prestigious NYSWCAA Service Award, given for outstanding contributions to New York State Women’s Intercollegiate Athletics.

The inaugural Ithaca College Sports Hall of Fame ceremony took place in 1969 when 15 individuals were named as charter members. A total of 302 athletes, coaches and administrators have been inducted in the past 42 years.
