ITHACA, N.Y. -- The 22nd-ranked Ithaca women's soccer team (3-0-1) scored a flurry of first-half goals en route to a 3-0 victory over visiting Rensselaer (1-4-1) on Tuesday afternoon at Carp Wood Field.

Ithaca twice found the back of the net in the opening 10 minutes of play with the third score coming in the 12th minute before 78 scoreless minutes ticked away to finalize all scoring at 3-0. Undefeated Ithaca outshot RPI 15-14 with a 9-3 advantage in the first frame of action.

The Engineers laced 11 shots to Ithaca’s six in the second stint, though were denied a goal as junior Becca Salant (Holliston/Holliston, Mass.) posted her first collegiate shutout with a nine-save performance.

Junior Caroline Jastremski (Notre Dame Academy/Staten Island) collected the game-winning goal in the sixth minute on a rebounded shot from classmate Rachael Palladino (Lansing/Lansing). Just 3:03 later, sophomore Jamie Ruddy (Irondequoit/Rochester) netted one of her own, again off a deflected ball, to give the Bombers a 2-0 cushion.

Palladino put one away on an assist from junior Julie Winn (Sutton/Sutton, Mass.) at 11:48 for the 3-0 lead.

Ithaca edged RPI, 3-2, in corner kicks.
