Ithaca Field Hockey Gets Dramatic Win

Rochester, N.Y. - The Ithaca field hockey team (1-3, 1-0 Empire 8) scored two goals late in the second half and went on to a 4-3 comeback victory over Nazareth (1-3, 0-1 Empire 8) in the conference opener for both teams.

The Bombers trailed 2-0 in the first half and rallied to tie the game. Nazareth built a 3-2 lead with 19:22 left in the second half, but senior Jessica Dillon (Mahopac/Mahopac) scored two goals in a span of 1:32 to help Ithaca to the victory. They were the first two goals of the season for Dillon, one of the team's captains.

Junior goalkeeper Kelly Singleton (Irondequot/Rochester) made 11 saves, her second consecutive game with double-digit saves and earned her first victory of the season.

After trailing 2-0 in the first half, sophomore midfielder Sam English (Ocean Township/Ocean, N.J.) scored her first goal of the season. Sophomore midfielder Katie Kennedy (Cicero-North Syracuse/Clay) got the Bombers back on level terms early in the second half to set up the exciting conclusion. Seniors Heather Kozimor (Hackettstown/Vienna, N.J.) and JulieAnne Butare (Bridgewater-Raritan/Martinsville, N.J.) picked up assists in the victory.
