Three Finish Under 80 as Stevens Turns in Team-Record Round at Susquehanna Invitational
HUMMELS WHARF, Pa. (September 24, 2011) – Freshman Cameron Hill, freshman Dave Stires, and sophomore Richie Szeliga all turned in rounds under 80 as the Stevens Institute of Technology men’s golf team broke the program-mark for the lowest team round on Saturday at the Susquehanna University Invitational with a 311. The previous record, set last weekend in the opening round of the Empire 8 Championship, was a 314.
Hill led the Ducks with a 75 for the third-straight round, while his classmate Dave Stires carded a 77. Szeliga broke 80 for the second time this year with a 78, and senior captain John Ziegler notched an 81 in a solid performance.
Division I Manhattan College won the invitational with a team round of 299. The best Division III finish came from Elmira College and its 307.
Manhattan’s Matthew Creamer (Sutton, Mass.) was the individual medalist with a one-over par 71.
