Elmira Posts Huge 1-0 Men's Soccer Win at Nazareth
Nazareth, NY – The Elmira College Men’s Soccer team picked up a huge win on the road as they scored with 11 minutes remaining in regulation to outlast Nazareth on the road 1-0 in an Empire 8 Conference showdown. The Soaring Eagles remain undefeated, improving to 7-0 overall and 2-0 in conference play. The Golden Flyers dropped to 4-3 overall and 1-1 in Empire 8 play.
The two teams played an even first half as both teams registered seven shots, but neither team could break through as they remained scoreless at the break. Nazareth outshot the Purple and Gold 10-4 in the second stanza, but that didn’t matter as EC made its chances count. In the 80th minute Edward Michelson ’12 (Winsted, CT – Cheshire) scored an unassisted goal that put the Soaring Eagles ahead for good.
Jared Micheller ’12 (Avon, CT – Winchendon School) finished with eight stops in net for Elmira, while Kyle Connolly made six saves for the Golden Flyers.
