Kuhn's 3 goals rally Nazareth by RIT
ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Senior Kelly Kuhn scored all three goals for host Nazareth Tuesday as the Golden Flyers rallied from a two-goal deficit to defeat RIT in a non-conference game for women's soccer, 3-2.
Kuhn's goals doubled Nazareth's team output for the 2011 season through six games and enabled the Golden Flyers to improve to 2-2-2 overall. RIT dropped to 2-4.
Two of Kuhn's goals came in the second half, including the game-winner with just 6:35 to play in regulation. Junior Amanda Sudore started the play by intercepting a pass, dribbled upfield and crossed the ball to Kuhn, who beat a defender and lofted a left-footed shot over the head of RIT keeper Ashley Valenti and into the goal
RIT's two goals came about two minutes apart midway through the first half. Alexis Knudtson scored her first goal of the season in the 26th minute with Rachael Bromson assisting. Two minutes later, Bromson scored on a one-touch shot following a corner kick by Jackie Jacobson.
Nazareth closed within 2-1 in the 35th minute after Kuhn stole a pass from an RIT defender and lofted a shot past Valenti. The tying goal came just 53 seconds into the second half as Kuhn scored following a scramble in front of the goal that resulted from a cross by Sudore, who was credited with an assist.
Kuhn's three-goal effort is the first by a Nazareth player since Taryn Bilodeau scored three times in a 7-1 win at Alfred on Sept. 12, 2007.
Nazareth outshot RIT 19-12 and got seven saves from sophomore goalie Abbie Carey. Valenti made six saves for RIT.
