St. John Fisher Women's Tennis Opens Season With A Win

The St. John Fisher College women's tennis team won its first match of the season, as the Cardinals came through with an 8-1 win over visiting Alfred University on Tuesday.

The Cardinals won all three doubles matches, while Elana Vahl and Kimberly Phimsipasom battled back to earn points in three sets.

Fisher hosts The College at Brockport on Thursday.

First Doubles: Elena Vahl & Marissa Rotondo (SJFC) def. Griffin Carrie & Jennifer Smith (AU), 8-6.

Second Doubles: Kathryn Pasier & Jordan Brungard (SJFC) def. Melissa Boyer & Shannon Tovey (AU), 8-1.

Third Doubles: Jennifer Lehner and Kimberly Phimsipasom (SJFC) def. Cady Spencer & Emily Eisenberg (AU), 8-3.

First: Vahl (SJFC) def.  Carrie, 6-7, 7-5, 11-9

Second: Pasier (SJFC) def. Smith, 6-1, 6-1.

Third: Rotondo (SJFC) def. Boyer, 6-2, 6-2.

Fourth: Brungard (SJFC) def. Tovey, 6-2, 6-2.

Fifth: Spencer (AU) def. Sania Zaki, 6-3, 7-5.

Sixth: Phimsipasom (SJFC) def. Eisenberg, 4-6, 6-4, 10-3.
