Pioneers Place 4th at St. Lawrence
The Utica College women’s track and field team placed fourth out of eight teams after earning 66 team points at the 2012 St. Lawrence Indoor Invitational on Saturday. Sophomore hurdler Jess Ciraulo posted two first place and one second place finish to help earn 28 team points for the Pioneers. Ciraulo took home first place in the women’s 60 meter hurdles with an ECAC qualifying time of 9.32. She also went on to post a second place finish in the women’s triple jump after recording a jump of 10.37 meters.
Senior Lauren Penc continues to get back on track after taking a year hiatus as she placed first in the women’s 400 meter dash, earning ten points for UC, after registering a time of 63.35. Penc and Ciraulo teamed with Anastasia Bowden and Samantha Prendergast and posted a first place finish in the women’s 4x200 meter relay. The squad posted an ECAC qualifying time of 1:50.17 and earned ten team points for the women.
Sophomore Anea Isom placed sixth in the women’s 60 meter dash finals and earned one team point for the Pioneers after coming in with a time of 8.41. Freshman Marissa Hitchcock took home third place in the women’s 800 meter run, earning six team points, with a time of 2:30.87.
Freshman Savannah Bernardin and sophomore Samantha Slattery took home fifth and sixth place in the women’s 5000 meter run after posting times of 20:28.98 and 21:19.19, respectively. Sophomore Katie Day placed eighth in the women’s one mile run with a time of 5:38.66. Day was also the Pioneers top finisher in the women’s 1000 meter run after crossing the finish line with a time of 3:17.22, good enough for a fourth place finish overall.
Chelsea Bogino took home fourth place in the women’s long jump after leaping 4.71 meters to earn four team points for the women.
