Utica Women's Swimming & Diving Downs Caz in Tri-Meet

Utica, NY (1-21-12) - The Utica College women's swim and dive team hosted Clarkson University and Cazenovia College Saturday afternoon at the Utica College Pool of Champions. UC defeated Cazenovia 84-55 but lost 89-48 to the CU Golden Knights. Clarkson beat the Wildcats 85-41. Freshman Amy Dumary led UC with a victory in the 200 yard butterfly finishing with a time of 2:35.19

The Pioneers return to the pool Saturday as they travel to Rochester, NY to challenge Empire 8 foe Nazareth College.  The meet will be held at the Shults Center and is scheduled to start at 1 p.m. The Golden Flyer women presently hold a 5-2 record this season.

Freshman diver Sarah Cifonelli, from nearby Sauquoit, NY,  posted another stellar performance on the board as she recorded the competition's top scores, 131.18 and 167.48, in both one-meter events.

Freshman Gwyn Joyce placed second in the 200 yard backstroke as she recorded a final time of 2:40.28 while classmate Kelsey Givens finished third in the 100 yard freestyle with a time of 1:02.63.
