First Tie For Ithaca Women's Swimming & Diving In Seven Years

Rochester, N.Y. - The Ithaca women's swimming & diving team (10-0-1) had eight event-winning performances in a dual meet at Rochester that resulted in the team's first tie in seven seasons in a 150-150 meet Saturday afternoon. Junior Carly Jones (Liverpool/Liverpool) won three individual events, as the Bombers and Yellow Jackets swam to a level meet. Ithaca's last tie was a 121-121 draw against Cortland at the Hill Center Pool on Nov. 5, 2005.

Jones placed first in the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:08.08, the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:28.35 and the 200-yard individual medley in 2:13.60.

Senior diver Jodi Costello (Framingham/Framingham, Mass.) won both events on the diving boards. She placed first on 1-meter with a score of 240.07 and first on 3-meter with a total of 274.12.

Three other Bombers won individual events. Sophomore Elizabeth Gawrys (Ballston Spa/Ballston Spa) won the 200-yard freestyle in 1:59.15; senior Missy Keesler (Union-Endicott/Endicott) won the 200-yard backstroke in 2:10.94; and freshman Kylie Bangs (Westfield/Westfield, N.J.) won the 100 back in 1:00.66 and was second in the 200 back in 2:13.00.
