HOBOKEN, N.J. (January 23, 2012) – The Stevens Institute of Technology basketball teams will host their Duck Country events on Tuesday night when Hartwick College comes to the Canavan Arena for a key Empire 8 doubleheader beginning at 6 p.m. All Ducks fans are encouraged to come out and support the squads as they jockey for position in the competitive Empire 8 standings.

The women’s team will start things off at 6 p.m. and are currently in third place in the Empire 8 at 4-2. Hartwick is one game ahead in second place at 5-1, and the Ducks will be looking to avenge a pair of losses from the 2010-11 season that saw Stevens win its second Empire 8 title.

The men’s team will follow at 8 p.m. and like the women, they too will be looking for revenge from two losses in 2010-11. The Ducks currently lead the conference standings at 5-1 (13-3 overall), one game ahead of the Hawks, Ithaca College and Nazareth College. Hartwick downed Stevens in the semifinals of the Empire 8 Championship in Hoboken last season and went on to win the first conference title in program history.

Tuesday will also feature a water bottle giveaway for both games and the men’s tilt will be a part of the nationwide Coaches vs. Cancer Suits & Sneakers Awareness Week. The coaches in both games will all be wearing sneakers and Stevens will be making a donation to the American Cancer Society after the game.
