Ithaca Women's Track & Field Team to Vie for Eighth Empire 8 Crown
ITHACA, N.Y. -- The 19th-ranked Ithaca women's track and field team will host the Empire 8 Indoor Track & Field Championships Saturday at Glazer Arena at 10:30 a.m. The Bombers have won the past four conference titles as well as seven of the eight times it has been contested.

The Bombers won 11 of the meet's 15 events and broke three Empire 8 records to defeat second-place host Rochester Institute of Technology by 104 points. Nine Bombers who earned All-Empire 8 honors return to compete this season.
Emma Dewart (Barker/Barker) tallied Empire 8 Field Athlete of the Meet honors. Dewart, a four-time indoor All-American, hit three NCAA provisional qualifiers in winning the high jump, long jump and the 55-meter hurdles. She set season-bests of 5.51 meters in the long jump and 8.55 in the hurdles, while clearing 1.67 meters in the high jump.
Dewart’s long jump set a new Empire 8 record.
Amanda Rissmeyer (Watchung/Millington, N.J.) was one of five Ithaca athletes to finish in second, having cleared a season-best jump of 1.63 meters in the high jump. Julie Orlando (Haverford/Havertown, Pa.) hit an ECAC-qualifying mark of 3.20 meters to win the pole vault.
Heidi Baumbach (Lake Placid/Lake Placid) led the Bombers in the 5,000 run as she surpassed the ECAC qualifier with a season-best time of 18:30.19. Martyann Chromik (Naugatuck/Naugatuck, Conn.) placed second in the 400 dash crossing the line in 1:04.24.
The Bombers’ distance medley relay of Jenn Randall (Cincinnatus Central/Cincinnatus), Mikayla Gaspary (Malta/Ballston Spa), Carly Graham (West Genesee/Syracuse) and one 2011 graduate won the event and qualified for the ECAC indoor meet with an Ithaca season-best time of 12:50.67.
Katie Edwards (St. Joseph by the Sea/Staten Island) was on the Bombers’ 1,600 relay team that finished as the runner-up in 4:23.21.
