Ithaca Ranked In Five Categories Nationally
ITHACA, N.Y. -- The Ithaca College women's basketball team (8-2) is ranked in five categories (three team and two individual) in the latest NCAA Division III statistical leaders, which include games through Jan. 1
As a team, Ithaca stands third in assist/turnover ratio (175 assists and 148 turnovers for a 1.18 ratio), ninth in assists (17.5 per game) and 13th in fewest turnovers (14.8 per game). In the individual rankings, junior center Devin Shea (St. Basil Academy/Huntingdon Valley, Pa.) is 26th in field-goal percentage (52 of 93 for 55.9 percent) and senior guard Jacqueline Shinall (Joel Barlow/Redding, Conn.) is 29th in assist/turnover ratio (40 assists and 21 turnovers for a 1.9 ratio). A third Bomber, sophomore forward Jenn Escobido (Norwich Free Academy/Lisbon, Conn.) is three baskets short of qualifying for the national leaders in field-goal percentage; her mark of 61.0 percent (47 for 77) would be fourth nationally.
The Bombers, who are receiving votes in both the D3hoops.com and Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) national polls, open Empire 8 play this weekend. Ithaca hosts St. John Fisher Friday and Nazareth Saturday.
